(October 10, 1997) LEAN HOGS: Cash markets are called steady to 1.00 lower for Monday. The potential for rain in the Corn Belt over the weekend could cause even heavier movement early next week. Hog slaughter this week was 5.1% greater than same period last year. Product demand remains light as offering are moderate to heavy. Futures are faced with the potential of further seasonal pressure. Historical charts suggest lows could be made in late October or early November. The December futures closed at 61.77 which was down 1.70 for the week. We see some support coming in near the 61.00.
