(October 24, 1997) CATTLE: The cash cattle trade was quiet on Friday. As boxed beef values were slightly lower at noon. Feedlots will be asking 70.00 to start the week. Packers have some inventory around them and should be tougher to deal with on Monday. Beef demand remains a problem and it probably will not get better soon unless export trade picks up. Domestically retailers will be spotlighting turkey in the coming weeks. Futures sold off late on profit taking and some long cattle short hog spread liquidation. December futures closed down $.62 on the day and up $.62 for the week.
