(September 18, 1997) METALS: Keep an eye on the metal markets. Gold prices ended the week at their second highest close in a month while silver prices ended at their best levels since June 26. And though platinum and palladium ended the week on a so-so note, the metal complex as a whole does not appear nearly as bearish today as it did a few weeks ago.

I am certain the rise in silver and gold prices helped propel the Goldman Sachs index to its best levels since February of 1996.

For the next five days, buy (1) December copper at 95.25 with a 93.75 intra-day stop.
