Q.
Why aren't Barnes Brokerage Co., Inc. and Commodity Insight articles
distributed throughout the paper according to market?
A. Extensive
formatting of the online issue with navigation links takes place as each
section is uploaded. At this point in our use of web technology, it would
be difficult to go back and reformat the online edition for articles that
come in or are posted after the main edition goes up. "Monday Postings"
is our current solution.
Q.
Why is there a difference between the print edition and online edition
coverage?
A. An online
edition of any publication is inherently different from its print parent.
The online edition of Consensus started with the same basic articles and format as the
print edition when the first sample issue was uploaded on March 28, 1997.
Over the months of preparation for the secure site offering, the online
edition started taking on some unique characteristics. These include:
Over a period of time, additional benefits of the companion online edition will become apparent.- Delivery of electronic data to subscribers ahead of delivery of the information via the print edition. This has been dramatic for subscribers that have less than satisfactory Postal Service and for overseas subscribers.
- Expanded coverage has been made available on specific commodities. Many online articles carry the complete original article - whereas the same article in the print edition has been truncated due to space limitations.
- Several contributors now appear in the on-line edition that are not found in the print edition.
- Online subscribers have access to a wider variety of Special Reports than are found in the print version.
- With the edition of (10/24/97), Mr. Barry Rosen of Fortucast Market Timing, Inc., may be e-mailed directly from his article. This feature is expected to be added to other contributors in time.
