COMMODITY INSIGHT

(August 14, 1997) METALS: With the stock and bond markets now on the defensive and the grain complex poised to move higher, I would think that metal prices would rise in value. At this highest level in over a month. Obviously, silver prices need to rise even more before it can be said with certainty that a low is in place. But based on how dismal the gold market acts, a one- month high in silver looks pretty good. Continue to buy metals on any hard break. But I favor silver over gold when going long.
