(December 12, 1997) SUGAR: Our stops were hit during a day of strong losses led by fund selling. Commercial buying was the only thing that kept prices from plunging further. Prices were hit hard because of the huge spec long position and funds liquidating positions at year-end for tax reasons. Concern about foreign crop prospects underpins the market.
