(December 5, 1997) STOCK INDICES: VALUE LINE–One floor trader called the market action yesterday, “Trendless and volatile, trendless and friendless,” which is the way our longs were treated, to a gap up open and then a crash down during the day. Nervousness over the Employment report and the continuing uncertainty in the Asian markets were credited for the volatility.
