OCTOBER 1997

Personal income increased $35.2 billion, or 0.5 percent, and disposable personal income (DPI) increased $28.7 billion, or 0.5 percent, in October, according to the Commerce Department's Bureau of Economic Analysis. Personal consumption expenditures (PCE) increased $28.8 billion, or 0.5 percent. In September, personal income increased $23.3 billion, or 0.3 percent, DPI increased $20.3 billion, or 0.3 percent, and PCE increased $18.8 billion, or 0.3 percent, based on revised estimates.
