(November 20, 1997) SOYBEANS: Activity in the soybean complex during the past week was fairly weak due to lower export sales and inspections along with news that South American growing regions are starting to dry out enough to start planting. It appears that the recent strong demand the complex has seen recently is about to fade away with weekly figures now moving below the previous on the last couple of reports not to mention the fact that weekly export sales figure for beanmeal were reported at a marketing year low. The supply side of the market does not look great either with tight supplies behind the market it should focus on the new crop of record proportion which should pressure prices further, especially if demand continues to wane. Technically, March soybeans remain in an uptrend; the trend would turn down on a close below $7.11½.
FUTURES STRATEGYShort SH at $7.35. Maintain a protective buy stop close only at $7.52½.
OPTIONS STRATEGYShort SF $7.75 call at $.07. Maintain a protective buy stop at $.19.
