(March 20, 2002) CORN: Not much of consequence. Slow farmer selling is supportive, but so-so action out of wheat and beans is weighing on the corn, as is the dismal chart. Thoughts of another large U.S. crop, competition from South America and already poor U.S. corn exports suggest corn has some obstacles to overcome if any upside of substance is to occur. The Russian poultry ban is also negative. The chart remains sloppy, with a distinctly bearish element. Don't assume too much about corn at this point, regardless of your trading bias. A 10-20 cent move in either direction is possible. Use stops.
