(March 1, 2002) CORN: May corn closed at $208 ½ up a penny mostly following the gains in Oats and Beans. Early week lows prompted by Chinese cancellations touched off some seasonal buying. We are on the sidelines in corn. Heavy commercial buying in oats took prices to contract highs on reports that Canadian commercials were willing to pay up after last summers drought in Canada impacted the yields. Ongoing dry weather expected also prompted commercials to buy.
